As well as being nominated for Wedding Photographer of The Year 2019 I’m honoured to have been accepted as a member of three of the most prestigious photographic societies in the world. Fearless Photographers, Wedding Photography Select and ISPWP – The International Society of Professional Wedding Photographers.
I measure and challenge myself against the best in the world. Every couple of months some 15,000 images are entered by the world’s best photographers and only a handful are awarded.
I have won awards from all of these organisations. What that means for my couples is that it drives me on to do the best I can for them. On the day I do not think ‘awards’ but constantly strive to make each shot the best.
Below are three of my award winning images and how they came about.
I love to capture moments naturally. I love the energy and emotion that is expressed in the connection between people. This image of Cheryl & Joe at Stirk House expresses that excitement and elation as are greeted by their friends and family.
Photos of the bride and groom together do not have to be overly posed. I just go with it and sometimes add a little direction. As Rachael and Kyle went for a quick dash the birds flew over the hedge to complete the shot – you can’t pose a flock of geese! All the elements came together for ‘the decisive moment’.
Expect the unexpected. Who knows what’s going to happen and almost constantly looking through the lens means you get lucky and catch the wind like this.
